Essential Oils - My Experiences
My first real experience with essential oils was when I ran the Seawheeze in 2012 and they gave us an essential oil pack by a Canadian company called Saje Wellness . The 'Runner's Reward (love that!) contains two oils; 'peppermint halo' and 'pain release'. I really enjoy both of these oils and keep them by my bed, in my gymbag and at my desk at work. I sometimes use them as perfume or as a pick-me-up. It's nice to take a break at your desk and smell different smells!

My Doterra Order! |
On the recommendation from my good friend Jess, I ordered from Doterra and my package came last week! I ordered a few different oils and I'm so happy with all of them. Here's what I ordered:
Wild Orange Essential Oil
Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil
On Guard Natural Toothpaste
and
The Athlete's Kit, which contains 5 oils and a cream
The oils:
-Doterra proprietary blend 'On Guard'
-Doterra proprietary blend 'Breathe'
-Lavender
-Peppermint
-Melaleuca (tea tree)
The cream:
-'Deep Blue' rub for sore muscles
I have used EVERY SINGLE OIL and the rub already. The kit came in handy today because I was out running and tripped and fell right on my knee, ending up with a huge scrape, as well as scraped palms and a little cut on my chin. I used the 'On Guard' oil to disinfect and then used the Melaleuca to calm it down. I diluted both of the oils just in case I had a sensitivity to them.
The deep blue rub that comes with the athlete's kit is amazing. It's almost like the cream 'icy hot' which you can buy in the drugstore, but it's all natural and I'd say it smells better than icy hot. I've used the lavender oil in the evenings, putting a few drops on my pillow and Sam's pillow. It makes our room smell amazing! The wild orange oil is supposed to be energizing and i've been putting it on in the mornings as a perfume. It smells like orange candy!
Since most of these oils are also meant for internal use, I tried a few internally. I have been putting a drop of cinnamon or peppermint into my water and surprisingly it adds a lot of flavor!
It's so much fun experimenting with the oils, I'm loving reading about them. The uses are endless and I'm already trying to figure out which ones I will order next.
Thanks for reading, I hope you are having a great day!

I just saw your comment about Hans Forster, and about died laughing because our experiences were identical. Buying him lunch at that horrible restaurant and watching him get more and more drunk was outrageous! I even left out the part of the story where he sunbathed in his skivvies while we were in the museum and refused to take us all the way back to our train stop in Caen. Oh my gosh. You made my day, I'm so glad someone else in the world knows about that crazy old git!

ReplyDeleteHi Hayley! Thanks for writing! I LOVE that I've finally connected with someone else who has a Hans Experience! I can't believe he sunbathed in his skivvies! Lucky for us, it was rainy and kind of cool when we were with him :-) That restaurant - what the heck!? Did he negotiate his rates with you when you agreed to the tour to include lunch? My husband remembers that he was bartering something - I think it was an "extra special" aspect of the tour, as he called it - if we'd chip in and buy him lunch. There were 2 brothers on our tour who we didn't know and they were just as astounded as we were to watch him guzzle his beers down! 2 big ones! Drivers were literally screaming at him from their vehicles, he cut so many people off. He spent most of the tour describing to us all of the "famous" people whom he toured around, and all of the fancy hotels he's stayed in over the years (including the Paris Ritz). Not too much talk about Normandy or the surrounding area. He did mention that he grew up in Germany and was in the Luftwoffer however (kinda crazy!). His van, he referred to as his "limousine" and it smelled - SO BAD. It mostly smelled because he stored cheese in the drivers side compartment that was the smelliest cheese I've ever smelled....and that's saying a lot because I smelled some really strong french cheeses while there :-) I think it was a rotting Brie. Gross! Once we started realizing that we were probably left at the American Memorial, we ran inside and explained our situation to the front desk people. In almost no time at all, an army officer pulled up in front in a golf cart and proceeded to speed down the road in order to catch up to a bus that had left the nearby stop on its way to the train station. It was the last train to Paris. We caught the bus, got to the station and we were on the way back to Paris after a very long day :-) Suffice to say, it was exciting and never would have happened without Hans :-) Did you stay in Paris? How long? We are thinking of going back sometime this/next year, and back to Normandy...although this time we won't use Hans! (we might look for him tho :-)
