Hello, Monday!

Since I missed my  'Friday 5' (and Jen even did one while she was busy in NYC getting ready for the marathon...she's amazing!) I'll do a 'weekly recap' instead. These are some of the things I enjoyed this week!

An empty pool...if you swim and you are used to crazy busy pools, you'll identify with this one...and if you don't swim, the best way for me to explain it is that I feel like its my own personal pool! I've been getting in some longer swims lately (I'll talk more about that at the end of this post) and its just nice to swim completely by myself sometimes.

Shopping at health food stores! I LOVE health food stores, vitamin stores, etc. I always run in to buy one thing and come out with a bunch more! I ran in to buy my antioxidant  and found all these other goodies!

Nuun - I use half a tab in my water bottle every day at work! I gotta keep my supply up...
Ojibwa Tea- This is similar/the same to the 'Flor Essence' or 'Essiac Tea' and I use it because I believe in its cleansing properties.
Warrior Food - This protein is also from HealthForce and it's Raw and Vegan. I can't wait to try it!
B12 Spray - I keep this on my makeup table so that I remember to take a spray each day. This is the 'methylcobalamin' version of B12 which is more easily absorbed than the more commonly found (and inexpensive) 'Cyanocobalamin'
Honey Stinger Chews - I might run the Seattle marathon, and if I do then I will use these. I find them easier to use than gels because I don't have to eat the whole package at once, and I don't have to worry about making a mess running with an open gooey gel package- yuck!

I love fall running! It was raining a bit on my run, but it was still so beautiful. Yes I was overdressed and was still a bit hot by the end of it, but it felt nice a cozy anyway :-) I love the way the water gets choppy in the fall when the wind really starts blowing.

The more I look at this shirt the more I like it
I saw this shirt at Ross/TJ Maxx and I thought it was the funniest thing. Ok, maybe it's not that hilarious but if I had it last week I might have worn it to work as an 'Emoji' Costume! Sadly, I left this at the store, but I'll always have this picture to remind me :-)

Patiently waiting by the candy
I can't have a weekly recap and not discuss Halloween! This year I dressed up as a 'Dia Di Los Muertos' sugar skull woman. I pretty much threw this together because my other costumes were in the attic (and I didn't want to get them) but I think it turned out pretty good. I stood by the door and obsessively waited for trick-or-treaters. We got about 20 kids which is awesome because last year we only got 6. Kudos to all the kids that came by, the weather was quite nasty and I wish it hadn't been raining so much! Another halloween is in the books and I can't wait for next years! I love Halloween!

This describes me in so many ways

Ironman training. I bought a new book to use as my training guide (thanks to Kalee for the recommendation!) and I've read the introduction a few times and even though it's only a 24 week plan , meaning that I wouldn't start 'till the new year, I was/am anxious and curious and want to start it NOW :-). So, I started this week following the plan. It is a very volume intensive plan and I mostly followed it with some minor exceptions/substitutions. I have been really good about entering everything into Training Peaks though!

3 minutes of Plank Holds :-) :-)

I like the book so far and I'm going to follow it again this week. The next few weeks I will be in Maui and will take a break from it (I won't be doing much/any biking there and I plan to do a LOT of swimming...and a little running :-)

My trainer and Gilmore Girls :-)

I hope you have a great week...I do hope to post more often, maybe shorter posts but more often.

My First Sub 4 hour Marathon!! (Race Recap: Goodlife Fitness Victoria Marathon)

Victoria, you are pretty!  The Goodlife Fitness Victoria Marathon was on October 11th in Victoria BC. We took the Victoria Clipper from Seattle and it was a short 2.5 hr trip. We arrived in the Victoria Harbor and checked into our hotel. We had a nice time exploring Victoria. If you like Vegan food I would check out the following restaurants The Green Cuisine The Lotus Seed Both of them are excellent pre-race food; not spicy, light and (in my opinion) easily digestible...and delicious! My Race Motto! Since I've been devoting my time to my Ironman base-building, I haven't spent as much time running as I usually did when I was running marathons a few years ago. My longest training run has been 16 miles. I tried not to let that psyche me out, and I  think the fact that I have finished 5 marathons gave the confidence to stick with my goal time of a 4hr marathon. Previously, my marathon training consisted of at least a few 20+ milers and a bunch of 8-10 mile...

The Friday Five!

Well its already Friday! I always enjoy reading the 'Friday Five's' that JenChoosesJoy  regularly posts so I thought I'd do one of my own. Without further ado, here are my "five"!  The Pumpkin Patch My girlfriends and I make an annual pilgrimage to the local pumpkin patch. It is so quaint and a lot of fun to actually go into a pumpkin field and pick my own pumpkin! I grew up in Winnipeg and as far as I know, we didn't have pumpkin patches (maybe  I'm wrong and was just missing out all those years?!). I bought a few pumpkins and a few weird looking gourds. They also sold amazing apples and I bought a bunch of those too!    Doterra Essentials Oils  I received my second Doterra order and am still discovering essential oils but I'm definitely on the bandwagon :-) This time I ordered Frankincense, Serenity and Aromatouch. I've heard a lot of good things about Frankincense oil with regards to cellular healing and it's anti-...
