Beauty Products that Can Handle an Ass-kicking

I have worn makeup to the gym/during physical activity for many years due to a few issues:

Bad skin (when I was younger...that might be a future post)
Barely visible eyebrows
Habit of picking my nails unless they are "done" (very bad)

There's probably other issues but these are my TOP THREE

SOOO I'd like to think that I've got some experience with what works and what doesn't and lately I've had even more experience "testing" products because in addition to my running, I'm now swimming and biking like crazy too. x

If a product doesn't come off of my face in the pool, its a miracle. Obviously, there are tons of reviews online but I sometimes think that when I am looking for a sweat proof makeup, that the people wearing them aren't really SWEATING. I can assure you, that I am sweating like a pig when I'm at the gym/on the trail/at the pool.

So without further ado...here are my current faves.

Mascara - Essence "I <3 Extreme" crazy volume mascara
This mascara is the best and not just because the tube is cute

This stuff is great! It isn't waterproof, but yet it kind of is because it still lasts through an hour swim in the pool. Some of it wears off in the pool, yes, but most of it still remains and it also washes off with a basic cleanser. I mixed a drop of lavender oil into it because its supposed to nourish your lashes. I don't know if it does that, but the oil certainly makes my mascara smell great! This mascara is available at Fred Meyer (West Coast grocery chain) and Ulta for $5. I love that its cheap because I keep an extra one in my gym bag so I've always got 2 going at once.

Eyebrows and Eyeliner

This ones a lifesaver. I think that every girl who has eyebrows takes it for granted, just my opinion.

I'm still learning how to edit photos :-)

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade This is available at Sephora for $18 (if you shop thru beats they offer 4% cash back but sometimes it doubles to 8% off). It is a small paint pot of product but it lasts and last...I am almost certain that mine will dry out before I actually use all of it (I've had it for almost a year and maybe have used 1/4 of the pot). I use the dark brown almost black shade. The only thing I don't like about this is it tends to get waxy and isn't very build-able.

NYX Eyebrow Gel I purchased this at Fred Meyer but is also at Ulta and retails for $6.99. Although I wasn't in the market for an new eyebrow gel (I have had my dip brow forever!) I bought this anyway. I really like it! It goes on a little smoother than the Dipbrow and is more build-able. I also love using this as an eyeliner too! I use a small eyeliner brush and it makes a great waterproof cat-eye. I bought the black shade and I think its a tad too dark for my eyebrows but I still like it.

Both of these products are applied with a small angled flat tipped brush.

Last but not least, nails

If I don't keep my nails looking somewhat nice and/or painted then after about a week or so I will pick them...I don't know why this always happens but it does. So I have to keep my nails painted. Since I've been swimming 3-4 days per week, the pool has been a disaster to some of my old favorite nail polishes. Essie. I love you but you literally peel off in the pool! OPI, you chip like crazy and don't last! But there's one thing that works.

This stays on my nails for a week, even when I am swimming.  (Running doesn't destroy my polish but biking does a number on it too). I really enjoy the dark colors and these don't even chip! The brush is nice too.

Hello, Monday!

Since I missed my  'Friday 5' (and Jen even did one while she was busy in NYC getting ready for the marathon...she's amazing!) I'll do a 'weekly recap' instead. These are some of the things I enjoyed this week!  An empty pool...if you swim and you are used to crazy busy pools, you'll identify with this one...and if you don't swim, the best way for me to explain it is that I feel like its my own personal pool! I've been getting in some longer swims lately (I'll talk more about that at the end of this post) and its just nice to swim completely by myself sometimes.  Shopping at health food stores! I LOVE health food stores, vitamin stores, etc. I always run in to buy one thing and come out with a bunch more! I ran in to buy my antioxidant   and found all these other goodies! Nuun - I use half a tab in my water bottle every day at work! I gotta keep my supply up... Ojibwa Tea- This is similar/the same to the 'Flo...

My First Sub 4 hour Marathon!! (Race Recap: Goodlife Fitness Victoria Marathon)

Victoria, you are pretty!  The Goodlife Fitness Victoria Marathon was on October 11th in Victoria BC. We took the Victoria Clipper from Seattle and it was a short 2.5 hr trip. We arrived in the Victoria Harbor and checked into our hotel. We had a nice time exploring Victoria. If you like Vegan food I would check out the following restaurants The Green Cuisine The Lotus Seed Both of them are excellent pre-race food; not spicy, light and (in my opinion) easily digestible...and delicious! My Race Motto! Since I've been devoting my time to my Ironman base-building, I haven't spent as much time running as I usually did when I was running marathons a few years ago. My longest training run has been 16 miles. I tried not to let that psyche me out, and I  think the fact that I have finished 5 marathons gave the confidence to stick with my goal time of a 4hr marathon. Previously, my marathon training consisted of at least a few 20+ milers and a bunch of 8-10 mile...

The Friday Five!

Well its already Friday! I always enjoy reading the 'Friday Five's' that JenChoosesJoy  regularly posts so I thought I'd do one of my own. Without further ado, here are my "five"!  The Pumpkin Patch My girlfriends and I make an annual pilgrimage to the local pumpkin patch. It is so quaint and a lot of fun to actually go into a pumpkin field and pick my own pumpkin! I grew up in Winnipeg and as far as I know, we didn't have pumpkin patches (maybe  I'm wrong and was just missing out all those years?!). I bought a few pumpkins and a few weird looking gourds. They also sold amazing apples and I bought a bunch of those too!    Doterra Essentials Oils  I received my second Doterra order and am still discovering essential oils but I'm definitely on the bandwagon :-) This time I ordered Frankincense, Serenity and Aromatouch. I've heard a lot of good things about Frankincense oil with regards to cellular healing and it's anti-...
