Hello, Monday!

Since I missed my  'Friday 5' (and Jen even did one while she was busy in NYC getting ready for the marathon...she's amazing!) I'll do a 'weekly recap' instead. These are some of the things I enjoyed this week!  An empty pool...if you swim and you are used to crazy busy pools, you'll identify with this one...and if you don't swim, the best way for me to explain it is that I feel like its my own personal pool! I've been getting in some longer swims lately (I'll talk more about that at the end of this post) and its just nice to swim completely by myself sometimes.  Shopping at health food stores! I LOVE health food stores, vitamin stores, etc. I always run in to buy one thing and come out with a bunch more! I ran in to buy my antioxidant   and found all these other goodies! Nuun - I use half a tab in my water bottle every day at work! I gotta keep my supply up... Ojibwa Tea- This is similar/the same to the 'Flo

The Friday Five!

Well its already Friday! I always enjoy reading the 'Friday Five's' that JenChoosesJoy  regularly posts so I thought I'd do one of my own. Without further ado, here are my "five"!  The Pumpkin Patch My girlfriends and I make an annual pilgrimage to the local pumpkin patch. It is so quaint and a lot of fun to actually go into a pumpkin field and pick my own pumpkin! I grew up in Winnipeg and as far as I know, we didn't have pumpkin patches (maybe  I'm wrong and was just missing out all those years?!). I bought a few pumpkins and a few weird looking gourds. They also sold amazing apples and I bought a bunch of those too!    Doterra Essentials Oils  I received my second Doterra order and am still discovering essential oils but I'm definitely on the bandwagon :-) This time I ordered Frankincense, Serenity and Aromatouch. I've heard a lot of good things about Frankincense oil with regards to cellular healing and it's anti-

My First Sub 4 hour Marathon!! (Race Recap: Goodlife Fitness Victoria Marathon)

Victoria, you are pretty!  The Goodlife Fitness Victoria Marathon was on October 11th in Victoria BC. We took the Victoria Clipper from Seattle and it was a short 2.5 hr trip. We arrived in the Victoria Harbor and checked into our hotel. We had a nice time exploring Victoria. If you like Vegan food I would check out the following restaurants The Green Cuisine The Lotus Seed Both of them are excellent pre-race food; not spicy, light and (in my opinion) easily digestible...and delicious! My Race Motto! Since I've been devoting my time to my Ironman base-building, I haven't spent as much time running as I usually did when I was running marathons a few years ago. My longest training run has been 16 miles. I tried not to let that psyche me out, and I  think the fact that I have finished 5 marathons gave the confidence to stick with my goal time of a 4hr marathon. Previously, my marathon training consisted of at least a few 20+ milers and a bunch of 8-10 miler

Beauty Products that Can Handle an Ass-kicking

I have worn makeup to the gym/during physical activity for many years due to a few issues: Bad skin (when I was younger...that might be a future post)  Barely visible eyebrows Habit of picking my nails unless they are "done" (very bad)  There's probably other issues but these are my TOP THREE SOOO I'd like to think that I've got some experience with what works and what doesn't and lately I've had even more experience "testing" products because in addition to my running, I'm now swimming and biking like crazy too. x If a product doesn't come off of my face in the pool, its a miracle. Obviously, there are tons of reviews online but I sometimes think that when I am looking for a sweat proof makeup, that the people wearing them aren't really SWEATING. I can assure you, that I am sweating like a pig when I'm at the gym/on the trail/at the pool. So without further ado...here are my current faves. Mascara - Essence &
Essential Oils - My Experiences My first real experience with essential oils was when I ran the Seawheeze in 2012 and they gave us an essential oil pack by a Canadian company called Saje Wellness  . The 'Runner's Reward (love that!) contains two oils; 'peppermint halo' and 'pain release'. I really enjoy both of these oils and keep them by my bed, in my gymbag and at my desk at work. I sometimes use them as perfume or as a pick-me-up. It's nice to take a break at your desk and smell different smells!  Relief! My next venture into essential oils was purchasing  eucalyptus oil at my local healthfood store. I mix it into a spray bottle with water and I simply spray it into my shower before I get in for a nice spa-like experience. I wish I remembered to use it more often because it's really refreshing! My Doterra Order!  On the recommendation from my good friend Jess, I ordered from Doterra and my package came last week! I ordered

Seawheeze 2015 Race Recap!

Seawheeze 2015 Race Recap Part 1 - Pre-race We headed up to Vancouver Thursday after work. By the time we got there, it was pretty late and we grabbed dinner (I had a veggie burger) and then checked into our hotel and went to bed. We were getting up early to check out the Seawheeze Showcase store! I had been putting off buying new workout clothes for sometime in case I found something, but I was simply looking forward to participating in this event as a spectator, and if I found something - all the better!  Vancouver is pretty We made our way down to the Convention Centre and arrived at 6:25…and the line was already wrapping around the convention centre! I would estimate at least a thousand people ahead of us. I overheard one person saying that she lined up at 11pm on Thursday! They opened the doors at 7pm and we figured that we might get in by 8:30….nope! we didn’t get into the store until 9:30 but that was OK, the time went surprisingly fast. There was so

Why, hello there!

I wanted to take some time and make my first post look amazing, perfect, impeccable...but that's just not going to happen right now. PMA stands for 'Positive Mental Attitude' and Transcending PMA is about the journey to not only integrate PMA into my daily life, but move beyond it and what happens when and if that process begins. I've been into fitness for 10 years, but recently my focus has become training for a triathlon. It's been really sweet to have a reason to train, and to seriously call it "training". I feel so athletic!
