The Friday Five!

Well its already Friday! I always enjoy reading the 'Friday Five's' that JenChoosesJoy regularly posts so I thought I'd do one of my own. Without further ado, here are my "five"!

The Pumpkin Patch
My girlfriends and I make an annual pilgrimage to the local pumpkin patch. It is so quaint and a lot of fun to actually go into a pumpkin field and pick my own pumpkin! I grew up in Winnipeg and as far as I know, we didn't have pumpkin patches (maybe  I'm wrong and was just missing out all those years?!). I bought a few pumpkins and a few weird looking gourds. They also sold amazing apples and I bought a bunch of those too!

 Doterra Essentials Oils
I received my second Doterra order and am still discovering essential oils but I'm definitely on the bandwagon :-) This time I ordered Frankincense, Serenity and Aromatouch. I've heard a lot of good things about Frankincense oil with regards to cellular healing and it's anti-aging benefits. I wanted to try more of the Doterra custom blends so I ordered Serenity and Aromatouch because the ingredients seemed like they would smell good together - and they do! Aromatouch has a fresh peppermint scent and serenity smells like lavender vanilla. I've been putting it on my pillows at night and it's very relaxing.

Lucky for me, this running shop, specializing in trail running and ultra running is right in my neighborhood! This store is amazing and so is the entire community of trail and ultra runners. I have only run one ultra (it was 28ish miles...so technically an ultra haha) but I LOVE running the trails. Before the Victoria Marathon I made a last minute switch to run in my Scott Ice Runners because the roads were a bit slick. I've run four marathons with my Scotts and I wanted to keep them for local trail runs so I decided to check out a different model from the brand. I decided on the Kinabalu 3 . I had to pick up a 7 Hills Running singlet because it matched so well! If I run the Seattle Marathon, I'll probably wear these 2 items :-)

Fall Running
Fall is THE BEST time to run! We have been having a great fall with nice weather and sunny skies, perfect for running....but rain isn't that bad either :-) I really enjoy running in cooler temperatures especially after the hot summer we had, it made it really hard to train after work! This picture is from one of my regular running routes...it's so beautiful to me. I love that I can see the ferry and mount Rainier.

I have been looking at getting some real tri clothing for quite awhile but I could never decide on anything and I just kept waiting for something new to come out. When Betty Designs announced their 'Kona Collection' I had to order some of it! I ordered the tri top and the tri shorts and so far I really like them and I love the colors. I don't care- having great work out clothes makes me happy!

Hope you enjoyed my Friday Five! Do you have any weekly favorites? Anything new you've tried and loved?

Seawheeze 2015 Race Recap!

Seawheeze 2015 Race Recap Part 1 - Pre-race We headed up to Vancouver Thursday after work. By the time we got there, it was pretty late and we grabbed dinner (I had a veggie burger) and then checked into our hotel and went to bed. We were getting up early to check out the Seawheeze Showcase store! I had been putting off buying new workout clothes for sometime in case I found something, but I was simply looking forward to participating in this event as a spectator, and if I found something - all the better!  Vancouver is pretty We made our way down to the Convention Centre and arrived at 6:25…and the line was already wrapping around the convention centre! I would estimate at least a thousand people ahead of us. I overheard one person saying that she lined up at 11pm on Thursday! They opened the doors at 7pm and we figured that we might get in by 8:30….nope! we didn’t get into the store until 9:30 but that was OK, the time went surprisingly fast. There wa...
Essential Oils - My Experiences My first real experience with essential oils was when I ran the Seawheeze in 2012 and they gave us an essential oil pack by a Canadian company called Saje Wellness  . The 'Runner's Reward (love that!) contains two oils; 'peppermint halo' and 'pain release'. I really enjoy both of these oils and keep them by my bed, in my gymbag and at my desk at work. I sometimes use them as perfume or as a pick-me-up. It's nice to take a break at your desk and smell different smells!  Relief! My next venture into essential oils was purchasing  eucalyptus oil at my local healthfood store. I mix it into a spray bottle with water and I simply spray it into my shower before I get in for a nice spa-like experience. I wish I remembered to use it more often because it's really refreshing! My Doterra Order!  On the recommendation from my good friend Jess, I ordered from Doterra and my package came last week! I ordered ...

Hello, Monday!

Since I missed my  'Friday 5' (and Jen even did one while she was busy in NYC getting ready for the marathon...she's amazing!) I'll do a 'weekly recap' instead. These are some of the things I enjoyed this week!  An empty pool...if you swim and you are used to crazy busy pools, you'll identify with this one...and if you don't swim, the best way for me to explain it is that I feel like its my own personal pool! I've been getting in some longer swims lately (I'll talk more about that at the end of this post) and its just nice to swim completely by myself sometimes.  Shopping at health food stores! I LOVE health food stores, vitamin stores, etc. I always run in to buy one thing and come out with a bunch more! I ran in to buy my antioxidant   and found all these other goodies! Nuun - I use half a tab in my water bottle every day at work! I gotta keep my supply up... Ojibwa Tea- This is similar/the same to the 'Flo...
